Dog Tooth Fairy

I didn't know that puppies lose their baby teeth just like we do. So far we have found four of Delphi's teeth. Harper didn't want her to miss out on the tooth fairy action so she has been pretending to be the tooth fairy for dogs. She writes notes to the dog tooth fairy as though she were Delphi, and then writes responses as though she were the dog tooth fairy.

Each child received a ball of clay and a bag of beautiful natural weeds and things. When we got to our table we discovered bowls of shiny iridescent plastic beads in the shapes of hearts and stars and bows, and cute short pipe cleaners in every color of the rainbow. It was over. My children never even opened the bag of weeds. Of course I have been over-analyzing their choice, wondering where I am going wrong in parenting them that they would choose cheap plastic beads in place of lovingly picked dried flowers and grasses.

Look Who Got Glasses

Poor little Harper is really nearly as blind as a bat. It took the school sending a letter home telling us to march down to the eye doctor and outfit our daughter in the appropriate eyewear before we believed her telling us that she thought she needed glasses. "The grass! I can see individual blades of grass!"

I had a birthday a couple weeks ago. Marc started the day with one of his pretty and delicious breakfasts. He asked me what I wanted: runny sunny-side-up eggs on good bread. Delivered.

On the Farm in Fergus Falls

We drove out to our farm's annual harvest event and picked a car-full of vegetables: 5 gallons of beets; 5 gallons of zucchini; 10 gallons of kale; probably 10 tonnes of squash; and 9 melons.
