We went camping last Thursday to Glendalough State Park. I am not sure when I realized I had forgotten my camera but I think we still could have turned around and gone back for it. But we didn't. We just experienced camping. And canoeing. And family skinny-dipping in broad daylight. And giant marshmallows. And sleeping in the tent. (No camera could accurately capture how awful that part is, anyway.) We also didn't bring a DVD player for the drive. From our recent trip home from Kenora without one we were feeling pretty confident, and that was 6 whole hours. This trip was a baby 1 1/2 hours. Instead Harper brought the book she was reading, Harry Potter 4, and Margo brought the book she was reading, Harry Potter 5. Harper really was reading HP4. And Margo really should have been for how sincere she was about the whole thing. I've never wished more that she could read. (Must work on that.) The whole way home Margo kept turning the pages and asking me to turn around so I could see where she was: "Mom, look what chapter I'm on." And she would read the page number, if she could, which was supposed to be the chapter. When she recognized that she was flying through her book much faster than Harper she reconciled this fact by announcing, "I don't read the words. That's how fast I am." Meaning, that's why I can do it so fast. But I do like the literal translation quite a bit.
