Snowstopper Pancakes

We made snowstopper pancakes on our third snow day this year.

Much to Harper's delight no one was paying attention when she sprinkled dumped powdered sugar on her piece.

Margo will be 4 next month and she is quickly growing into a very big girl. I feel like I need to capture all of her sweet expressions and funny faces before they change and the little girl we know now is gone.

I know these are pictures of her eating. But I am her mother and I think that she is adorable even when she is eating and I don't want to forget one minute of her adorableness.

Snow Day 2

French Braid?

I can't be sure if this is really a French braid but we were both pleased with the end result.

Making Faces

My Little Tea Partiers

We hit up the library's tea party last Saturday.

Haircut

I am so glad Margo cut her bangs this summer. We never would have done it otherwise. And now I can't imagine her without them. (I took off a little more than I was expecting this time around.)

Margo has a hard time remembering to comb her hair. And she doesn't like to comb her hair when she remembers. We finally decided it was time to chop off the tangles to avoid more tears. I suggested cutting it chin-length and Margo asked, "like Halle's?" Besides being pretty glad to have matching hair with Halle Margo was also delighted to learn that this style is called a bob.

At Home on Sunday

It was too cold to go to church so we donned our Sunday best for an at-home service.

The End for Thirty Years

I remember hearing about a guy that got rid of all of his stuff but before he did he took pictures of every single thing he owned.  I always thought this could work for me since I would have a picture of the sentimental things I can never seem to part with.  For now things end up in a box or a drawer or a pile without much of a chance for being seen again in the next 30 years.  This little dress-up dress that my mom made for Harper when she was 2 finally became too small for anyone at our house.  So I took a picture of it intending to then throw it away (it has a gaping hole in the back and most of the stick-on sequins on the front have been removed by the owners of this dress).  But then after I took a picture of it my sentimentality got the better of me and I added it to a pile of stuff that is destined for a box and a renaissance in 30 years.

These little seed beads convinced me that I should not throw it away.  There was just no way I could get rid of the dress after I imagined my mom spending hours and hours beading this trim. I am not even sure she did the beading on this dress. Part of me is hoping she did. And part of me is hoping she didn't.

Happy New Year!

Harper created, as she put it, a Happy New Year village where we made stuff, specifically fairies.  H&M received a book about and the supplies to make fairies out of pipe cleaners, wooden beads, and scraps of fabric. And so we did.

Margo and I painted this sign last New Year's Eve. We found it in a box awhile ago and taped it back up on the wall. On New Year's Day we thought about the past year and wrote down the things that happened to our family in 2013.
